what an inward journey!

well, this book is a compilation of a lot of sifferent stories, from immigrant's stories to myths and legends, this book is a great deal for those who want to expand their view in Literature and are willing to learn from this wonderful stories, which are highly charged with cultural backgrounds and a huge intellectual view by the authors. This book is more that just nice stories, these book has within its pages the aoyhor's personalities and that is exactly what makes it so great.

Not a good value

I needed this book for an English class. I found it to be over-priced for what was provided. In addition, many of the essays were student writings from the author's university class. I didn't find them helpful (for critical thinking or writing), nor interesting. With all the wonderful authors in the world, why study these essays for an English writing class?

This book is not bad, however, it's overwhelming to read if you have problems with comprehension of certain things.. There is a lot of information covered in it. I wouldn't recommend this book to people that don't enjoy reading essays or that have comprehension problems..
