I had met and was treated by three different smart and well-meaning cardiologist

When this very handy book by the author Hans Larsen came to my attention almost 14 years ago, it marked a major turning point in my life in what was, at the time, already 11 years into my 'career' dealing with gradually progressive paroxysmal AFIB and on its way to persistent 24/7 arrhythmia.

Those first 11 years before this book were akin to stumbling through the dark, searching for reliable guidance toward a resolution for the anxious anticipation of the next episode, in an inexorable escalation of episodes, until they all fuse into one continuous non-stop burden. Before this book, I had met and was treated by three different smart and well-meaning cardiologist. Yet these docs were all following a, by then, outdated guideline for managing AFIB patients.

Finding this book and learning the difference between the typical cardiologist ( when it comes to keeping up with the leading edge recommendations for AFIB treatment options) and an electrophysiologist (arrhythmia specialist-cardiologist), as well as what vagal and adrenergic AFIB meant, were just the beginning of a broad scale education into the many nuances and good practical decisions that have led to my now having enjoyed over 8 years of unbroken freedom from AFIB ... after what has been a full quarter-century since my first bout of this lousy condition.

A Valuble Resource - Must Read!

I've had afib since July '04. I found this book within a month of my first episode. It was a huge blessing. I was referred to a highly regarded cardio. I'd read this book and I expected us to be on the same page. My episodes tend to have a vagal trigger. I'd learned from the book that digoxin was not indicated for those with vagal triggers ("Whatever you decide, do not – ABSOLUTELY NOT – accept a prescription for digoxin (Lanoxin, digitalis). This drug has been proven to worsen LAF and may make it permanent. Actually, if your doctor prescribes it look for another physician – your present one is obviously not up-to- date!"). The doc told me digioxin was his favorite afib med. I would not take it and we'd have hour long "discussions." For whatever reason, the doc referred me to his electrophysiologist partner. When I described my presentation, he said, "you are obviously vagal and there are certain meds (digoxin) we won't prescribe for you." I thanked him.

This is a great book for anybody with afib. Ablation techniques have advanced since the book was written, but much of the info is still very valuable. I highly recommend this for any afibber to get a better understanding of their illness and situation.

Much to my great surprise I got an immediate great improvement in frequency

I started to experience AFIB in the Nineties-getting progressively worse-the more drugs I was being prescribed, I encountered Hans Larsen work on the Internet and finally his book in 2002. I followed immediatly one of his research paths-getting the mercury removed in my mouth under very controlled conditions. Much to my great surprise I got an immediate great improvement in frequency of AFIB episodes. The next major breakthrough came from Mr Larsen's review of the Science behind Professor Claude Coumel of Paris University. Based on his Science and a visit to him-I switched from four drugs to the one drug that really works for VAGAL AFIB Episodes,

Prior to the journey that effectively started with Hans Larsen and his book-my episodes of AFIB went from daily/ weekly to a point now where I am fourteen years completely free of AFIB--with only one brief episode in that period.

I have not the slightest doubt without Mr Larsens work and Book I would be in permanent Afib and significant stroke risk. My advise to anyone with early episodes of AFIB or been subjected to it for year-Buy the book -bring your understanding to much higher levels-use this info to work with your Cardiologist and finally get a solution that works uniquely for you.Being totally clear of AFB for last fourteen years after most unpleasant years of dealing with the monster of frequent AFIB episodes is a daily joy. It would never have happened without Hans Larsen's work/book

Great, well written history of the Third Reich

I was looking for a book to learn the history of the Third Reich. I found several others, some of which were quite in depth and very long. I wanted a book that gave a good history without every little minute detail. This book fit the bill perfectly. It went more in depth than I thought it would, but that is a good thing. The author did a great job of giving the history without being boring and it was an easy read. I learned a lot and this book would be a great starting point for anyone wanting to know the history the rise and fall of Hitler's Germany.

I read this book on Kindle and I would highly recommend either the e-book or hard copy book to anyone interested in the subject.
